Intraspec.ca is an online journal of readings, writings and research on matters of health and well-being. Categories include psychology and cognition, health and fitness,
diet and nutrition, politics and economy, society and culture, earth and climate change. In addition to the various original essays here presented, I strive to create comprehensive,
accurate, and up-to-date research pages on a variety of subjects, including autism, cognitive mapping, homelessness, poverty, legal aid and pro bono law resources, medical marijuana, Nordic Walking,
pollution in people, etc.
The title of the site, Tools for personal development, refers to ideas, practices and techniques that may be applied to facilitate health and well-being,
and foster improved understanding of self and creative expression.
Using the Information on this Site
Reference material presented on this site is carefully researched, fully cited and date-stamped, particularly on pages providing information in the public interest. Medical content
is presented solely for purposes of education, to provide friends and visitors with qualitative information that has been assessed for relevance and reliability from selected authoritative sources.
Said content is not intended to substitute for informed medical advice or care, however, and it is strongly recommended that you consult your physician with any questions or concerns
you might have regarding your condition. The same applies in the context of all other content on this site. The compiled materials, analyses, and findings are my own, intended to
facilitate expeditious access to relevant in-depth information. In your search for answers, it is important that you perform your own due diligence.
Disclosure
Intraspec.ca is a not-for-profit site supported through commissions earned from affiliate sales of selected products and services that I have reviewed and consider superior. Limited
revenue is also generated from Google Adsense. This site does not receive income from paid advertising.
Privacy
No direct or indirect personally identifiable information (PII) of any sort is collected from visitors to this site. PII is data used to identify, contact or
locate a person, including name, address, telephone number, or email address. In the two contexts detailed below, however, third-party sites do collect
non personally identifiable information (non-PII) information that is anonymous or not linked to a particular person about visits to this site.
Context One
This site is financed in part through revenues earned from ads. Some of these are served by second- and third-party companies who collect non-PII to
track responses to specific affiliate ads. Others are served by third-party advertising companies who collect non-PII in order to provide advertisements about goods and
services that might be of interest to you. Google, for example, is a third party vendor that uses the DoubleClick (DART) cookie to serve "Ads by Google", based on your visits to this and other sites.
You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network
privacy policy. Click here to learn more about cookies, web beacons, and other tracking
mechanisms, including information about accepting, declining, and disabling cookies in your browser (IE6 or higher).
Google ads on this site have always been contextually targeted, based on the content of the page. But on 8 April 2009, Google launched
interest-based ads ads presented on the basis of
a user's previous interactions with them, such as visits to advertiser websites. YouTube uses such interest-based
advertising to show relevant ads, so this is not uncommon. You can specify your interests or opt out of interest-based targeting by clicking on most "Ads by Google" links you see on Google ads
throughout the web; this should bring you to the Ads Preferences Manager, where you can view and edit your interest categories.
Context Two
I also utilize three free high-quality statistics services (StatCounter and
Google Analytics), which gather only non-PII information that
helps me assess visitor usage and demographics in an effort to improve usability and content.
This site strictly complies with the principles and regulations established in Canada’s private sector privacy law,
the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), explained in
the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada document entitled A Guide for Individuals: Your Guide to PIPEDA, and with the principles established in December 2008 by the
Network Advertising Initiative.
